The Restoration of Solemn Sanity

Sun. How I have missed you. It’s been too long since I’ve last taken a walk and enjoyed your healing rays. Even when you did peak out, the cold, too intense to even breath at times, kept your guests away.

But you are back, at least for a little while. To melt the white quilt blended with brown.

Thank heavens!

Blended with brown. You know how this girl doesn’t like dirty snow.

Winter is the ultimate sanity tester; has been for centuries.

It will make or break you.

The best of spirits are dampened after a long winter … after too much time without comfort from the sun – often upon the teasing of the sun when he shows his face, only seeming to hide as the sharp wind overtakes the prairie land.

Workers of the land wake up and peer out the window, soon to learn another sheet of snow and ice wind blow across their ground, threatening their blessings to earn a living. I had better get out there, they say, and turn and sigh in surrender.

But not today! Today, the sun is shining, and hope is renewed.

Winter appears to be coming to an end … but then again, maybe not. What can we do about it?

We’ll enjoy this day …

… and restore a bit of our mind.

  1. Living in sunny S. California I really enjoy your posts, and beautiful photos, because although you’re talking about the same country I live in, yours is a white country, with cows in your yard, while mine right now is full of blossoming trees and traffic jams.

  2. Oh, I love your cows!

And I’m with you. Even as a lover of snow, I agree it can make you or break you in February. The sun is out in Columbus today. I almost forgot what it looked like.

  3. Those are some really great pictures. We have gotten more snow here in Memphis this year than we have in a while. Not a whole bunch at once, but 4 or 5 times now already. We just got another 3 & 1/2 inches yesterday. I love the snow because we don’t get much or see any sometimes. If it’s gonna be cold, I want snow!

  4. Your pictures are so amazing! How do you even get time to take them all? My mum just took some cool ones of our “back-yard”, maybe I’ll post them. Enjoy your sun!!

  5. We had sunshine and blue skies here too – looks beautiful against the white fields! I love winter and snow, I hate seeing it melt. Although I’m also looking forward to planting our veggie and flower gardens in a few months!
